Forming identity, belonging, and calling in the world of sport

Through Christ-centered coaching and community, we help pro and elite soccer athletes, coaches, and executives rediscover identity, belonging, and calling so they can experience God’s purpose and make an impact in every part of life.

We work with athletes, coaches, and executives at the highest levels of North American soccer:

Identity

We help pro and elite soccer athletes, coaches, and executives anchor their identity in Christ and equip them to thrive mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

Belonging

We create space for them to be known, not for what they do, but for who they are, with confidence to impact every environment they influence.

Calling

We walk with them as they explore and discover who God has created them to be in order to do what God has created them to do.

They’ve reached the top and still feel lost.

Pro and elite soccer athletes, coaches, and executives are celebrated for what they do but often feel unseen for who they are.

They’ve earned success, but underneath it all, their faith feels disconnected. Their identity is tied to performance. And the pressure to keep producing never ends.

As a result, their emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being begins to break down.

Pro and elite soccer athletes, coaches, and executives are more than entertainers.

They are people made in God’s image, with a calling that goes beyond sport and performance.

It’s time they knew.

We know what it’s like to wonder if there’s more.

I’m Jonathan Van Horn (pictured right), Founder of Bigger Than Boots, and I know what it’s like to succeed as an elite soccer athlete and still sense there’s more to life than performance.

I’m a certified performance coach, life coach, and mental health coach with over 25 years of experience in the athletic arena.

I’ve walked alongside hundreds of pro and elite soccer athletes, coaches, and executives at the college, professional, and national levels to help them integrate faith and life and find joy in God’s purposes.

We create environments that foster transformation.

We work in the spaces where athletes, coaches, and executives exist: Practice fields, training tables, offices, etc. We create dynamic environments where they can discover God’s purpose for their lives.

Discipleship

Discipleship happens through relational investment of 1-on-1, small groups, spiritual formation, and an ongoing presence through success, injury, transition, and adversity.

Development

Whole-life formation focusing on identity, faith, performance, leadership, pursuit of excellence, legacy, and exploring what is truly capable for one’s life.

Speaking

Evoking inspiration and challenge to explore who you are, the power of belonging, and going past what you believe is possible for yourself and the arena you live in.

They Were Made for More. Help Them Discover It.

When supported through discipleship and coaching, these leaders begin to live with clarity and joy. They rediscover who they are in Christ. They find belonging. They step into their God-given calling, both in the game and beyond it.

Without that support, soccer becomes a constant measure of worth. No matter the contract or success, they remain exhausted and disconnected, wondering if they’re anything more than their performance.
